Conclusion of a memorandum of cooperation between the Penal Enforcement Service and the University of «Urartu»
Today, on October 24, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Penitentiary Service and the “Urartu” University of Practical Psychology and Sociology in the central body of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia. It was signed by the Head of the Penitentiary Service, major-general of justice Sergey Atomyan and the rector of the university, psychologist, doctor of psychological sciences, professor Sedrak Sedrakyan.
The main goal of the memorandum is the professional training and re-qualification of psychologists and social workers of the penitentiary system through the potential of the university. The graduates of “Urartu” University, in turn, will have the opportunity to practice in penitentiary institutions.
Convinced that social, legal and clinical psychology has a great influence in the resocialization of incarcerated persons and the reduction of recidivism, the Penitentiary Service emphasizes the importance of promotion of similar programs and initiatives.
