The unprecedented challenges that followed the devastating 1988 Spitak earthquake, along with the formation of new social realities, clearly highlighted the vital role of applied psychology and social work. Recognizing the urgent need for qualified professionals in these fields, the Rector of the University, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor Sedrak Sedrakyan, founded the “Urartu” University of Practical Psychology and Sociology in 1991.
Today, the University is one of the leading higher education institutions in the Republic of Armenia and the only specialized institution in the fields of psychology and social work.
The “Urartu” University of Applied Psychology and Sociology has a Research Center that serves as an important platform for the development of scientific thought and research activities. The center brings together PhD students, early-career and experienced researchers, as well as faculty members who actively conduct research in various fields.
It provides all the necessary conditions for carrying out both theoretical and applied research, preparing academic papers, and participating in local and international conferences. The center also promotes the development of innovative scientific ideas and their practical application.
Through the activities of the Research Center, PhD students and researchers have the opportunity to enhance their professional competencies, strengthen their research skills, and ultimately obtain academic degrees, contributing to the advancement of science and education.
