GRADUATE WORK
The thesis reflects the undergraduate student’s ability to apply acquired knowledge within the framework of a given profession, pose problems related to the professional field, and propose their solutions.
The thesis is an individual and generalizing component of the undergraduate educational program, which has theoretical and/or applied significance. Preparation and defense of works are carried out in the 8th semester for full-time study and in the 10th semester for part-time education.
Preparation of a final qualifying thesis (thesis) in a bachelor’s degree is carried out under the guidance and control of a supervisor. All undergraduate students must have approved thesis topics and supervisors by the end of the 7th (9th in the case of part-time education) semester.
The preliminary defense of the final qualifying work is carried out with the participation of the heads of the department and the undergraduate educational program, as well as the head of the student’s final thesis.
If plagiarism is detected during the preliminary defense, an appropriate protocol is drawn up, which is submitted to the commission for final certification, and if plagiarism is detected during the public defense, the work is assessed as unsatisfactory.
The work is assessed on a 20-point system according to established criteria and corresponding standards.
Only those members of the final certification commission who were present during the entire defense of the student’s work evaluate the final qualifying work of a bachelor’s degree. The evaluation results of the final certification commission are published immediately after the defense in the presence of students.
After receiving the application, the chairman of the commission presents to the graduate the results of the assessment of the commission members according to established criteria and standards. If errors are detected when performing procedures, calculating and summing up assessment points during the assessment process, the commission:
a) changes the student’s grade if a detected violation or error affects the result of the grade,
b) does not change the assessment if the error or omission did not affect the result of the assessment,
c) cancels the results of the defense in the event of serious procedural violations of the procedure for the final certification of graduates of institutions implementing higher professional education programs in the Republic of Armenia, and immediately organizes a new defense.
